Workshop: Mixology of Flowers

The gardens have started to bloom, and the bright beauty of Spring demands to be captured in paint. Painting flowers requires careful observation. It can be challenging, intimidating but also fun. In this one-day class you will be introduced to some convenience colors which can help you capture those lovely blooms. You will also learn how to capture those flowers using just the colors you already and normally have on your palette. The secret is mixing the correct values and easy drawing techniques.

Bring one or two clear photos of flowers you are interested in capturing in paint. This class can help you with whatever liquid medium you use such as: oils, gouache, and watercolor. Bring a palette with a large mixing area, brushes, palette knife, your painting surfaces, paint, pencil and sketchbook. If working in a water medium, also bring a spray bottle.
