Workshop: Mixology of Shadows

This class will teach you about one of the ways that photography can fail a painter. Photos tend to deepen shadows to the point they go black. When working from life you learn that you can see into those shadows in most cases. This one-day class will teach you that creating shadows really does not require you to just paint them black. We will learn about when and how to mix colors for cool shadows, warm shadows, and how shadows are identifiable by how the artist handles their edges and cores. And if working from a photo, how to paint what you know or suspect rather than just want the photo presents.
