Workshop: Mixology of Skies and Clouds

Painting skies both with and without clouds can make or break a painting. Creating believable skies doesn’t require a degree in meteorology. We will also learn to identify and mix the colors you need to accurately capture fluffy clouds, sunrises, sunsets, grey skies, and blue; and everything in between. We will also practice brush and paint application techniques based on your chosen medium that will complement your compositions. And we will pack it all into a one-day class.

Bring one or two clear photos of skies & clouds you are interested in capturing in paint. Bring a palette with a large mixing area, a half dozen brushes, a palette knife, your favorite painting surfaces, paint, pencil and sketchbook. If working in a water medium, also bring a spray bottle. The instructor will bring additional tools that will help you.
