Second Saturdays at RAL Art Center with the Virginia Writer's Guild

The Writers Guild of Virginia and the RAL Art Center are pleased to announce that Mathews Virginia resident and children’s book author Maurine Frank will be the guest speaker at their Second Saturday Social on July 13, 2024, from 5-7 pm. This free event will be held at the RAL Art Center, 19 North Main Street, Kilmarnock, Va., and will feature a panel discussion on writing and choosing children’s books. Award-winning author and educator Ann Eichenmuller will host the panel.

Maurine Frank has been writing and illustrating children’s books for over five years. Her books have been praised for their engaging stories and beautiful illustrations and were both #1 best sellers on Amazon. Frank’s passion for writing and love for children has inspired her to share her knowledge and experience with others interested in writing for children. Her books focus on encouraging affirmations and outdoor activities centered on discovering our beautiful world.

The panel discussion, moderated by Ann Eichenmuller, will focus on what makes a captivating children’s book and the steps aspiring writers can take to get started. Eichenmuller is an award-winning author, educator, and recipient of the Washington Post Award for Excellence in Education. Her books include adult and children’s fiction.

Joining the panel will be smART Youth Coordinator Stephanie Antonijuan and the talented teen artists from the Teen Art Camp. They will share their experiences and perspectives on the importance of art in children’s books and how it can enhance storytelling.
